TanBC is a non-profit organization uniting Tanzanians and those of Tanzanian heritage throughout British Columbia. Founded on our belief that we are “Stronger Together,” we provide a supportive community that celebrates our cultural roots while building new connections in Canada.

WHAT WE DO
We help our members navigate life in Canada while maintaining meaningful ties to our Tanzanian heritage.
Bereavement Support
During times of loss, our community comes together to provide emotional, practical, and sometimes financial support to affected families. We understand that being far from home can make these times particularly challenging, and we ensure no one has to face them alone.
Mental Health support
We recognize the unique challenges that come with immigration and cultural adjustment. Our mental health initiatives include connecting members with culturally sensitive resources, organizing support groups, and reducing stigma through education.
mentorship
Our mentorship program pairs established community members with newcomers and young professionals to provide guidance on education, career development, and life in British Columbia. We believe in lifting each other up through shared knowledge and experience.
Stewardship
We are committed to giving back, both to our local communities in BC and to projects in Tanzania. Through volunteer opportunities and fundraising initiatives, we make positive impacts that honor our heritage of community service.
embassy connection
We maintain strong relationships with the Tanzanian Embassy and provide resources to help our members access consular services, stay informed about policies affecting the diaspora, and remain connected to developments in Tanzania.
